Artis Gordon earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications and a Masters of Science in Sports Leadership and Management from Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to graduate studies, he worked for two years at the Richmond Times-Dispatch, then spent two years in Philadelphia where he coordinated marketing and philanthropy for the personal management firm CrossOver Promotions, Inc. The most notable client of CrossOver Promotions Inc. is Allen Iverson of the Denver Nuggets.

Artis has been involved in the areas of marketing, event planning for professional athletes, and the altruistic work of non-profit organizations. He annually serves as Marketing Coordinator for the Allen Iverson Celebrity Summer Classic, a series of summer events sponsored by Reebok and CrossOver Promotions benefiting local Boys & Girls Clubs of America and collegiate scholarships for athletes from the Hampton Roads areas. He has coordinated events in Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Houston and Hampton Roads, VA. The Allen Iverson Celebrity Softball Game has averaged about 8,500 + spectators each year at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie, MD (Home of the Bowie Baysox). He has also coordinated special events at the NBA All-Star Weekend (2001-2006), as well as, serving annually on the event staff at former NBA center Alonzo Mourning's charity weekend, (Zo's Summer Groove) in Miami, FL.

Artis is also a part of the development team of the Phi-Eta Group, a Virginia based service organization that specializes in youth educational enhancement. The programs implemented by the Phi-Eta Group provide guidance in managing life skills, performance in the classroom, and techniques closing cultural competency gaps in society.

Currently, Artis serves as Club Manager/Membership Director for Anytime Fitness in the West End of Richmond, where he manages sales, marketing, programming and facility.
